BLACK HERITAGE ACADEMY

What is
Black Heritage Academy?

Black Heritage Academy creates spaces for Black people of all ages to come together to learn about our history, culture, and heritage. Black Heritage Academy currently comprises three programs: The Academy, Liberation Table, and Liberation Calendar. Learn more about each of these programs below.

The Academy

The Academy is a Saturday and after-school program for children in grades K–12, where young people come together to learn about their history in community with one another.

Liberation Table

Liberation Table is an opportunity for Black people of the African Diaspora to host family and friends over a traditional meal with African roots — both in Black History Month and on Juneteenth — and to reflect upon our history of innovation, strength, and overcoming oppression.

Liberation Calendar

Liberation Calendar, created in partnership with the African American Policy Forum, guides you through an intentional Black History Month practice every February. Each day, participants receive an email with the day’s suggested practices, opportunities for reflection, and calls to action.
